Past the first donation

How You Can Help

A campaign getting its first donor is the beginning of the goal, not the end of it.

We don't want this to stop at one donation. Please keep spreading the word — about the campaign that's featured, and about Boost Board itself — even after someone's given. Statistically, sharing helps almost as much as the donations do.

The numbers, briefly

3× more likely Campaigns shared more than six times in their first few days were three times as likely to go on to raise significantly more than campaigns shared less often.

5% more money, platform-wide GoFundMe's own internal testing found that getting just 10 percentage points more of its campaigns shared at all produced a 5% increase in total donation volume across the whole platform.

257% jump A separate study found that getting a crowdfunding campaign in front of people who don't already know the organizer — not just their existing circle — increased donations by 257%, almost all of it from people with no personal connection to the campaigner at all.

What that means, concretely

A share takes fifteen seconds and costs nothing. Based on the numbers above, that fifteen seconds is doing real, measurable work — for a campaign you already donated to, or one you can't afford to donate to at all. Both matter equally here.

Your words make the connection

Start here, then make it yours. Replace the bracketed details, then copy it wherever you'd share it.

One last look before you post — a reminder, not a requirement:

0 of 3 checked. Take your time.

Sharing with a hashtag

A few tags that tend to reach people already inclined to help:

#BoostBoard #SignalBoost #MutualAid #GoFundMe #PayItForward #CommunitySupport

If you want to let the organizer know

Sometimes it's worth sending a quick note directly to the person running the campaign — to let them know a stranger saw them, added them somewhere, or took a small action on their behalf. These are editable starting points.

Replace the bracketed details, then copy or paste wherever you're in touch with the organizer.

Other ways to help

Money and sharing aren't the only two options. Submitting a campaign you know about that hasn't gotten traction, or supporting the app itself so it can keep running, both genuinely help too — see the Credits & Support page for both of those.
